| Quote from organization:
Duffy Frantom is a valued member of the Red Cross
Family. Since 1986, Duffy has always been "ready to
serve" and no task is too large or small for him to
complete. He actually uses his vacation time in serving
our organization. In 2002, Mr. Frantom was named
Volunteer of the Year for the local chapter.
What are your contributions to the organization?
As the Disaster Action Team Coordinator, I am on call 24
hours a day, 7 days a week for all emergencies. I am
contacted by a pager and communicate with the chapter staff
daily. With a keen interest in radio equipment, I am a
member of the Twin City Ham Radio Club and Amateur Radio
Emergency Services. I communicate with emergency
personnel in 12 Northeast Louisiana Parishes.
Coordinating volunteers and driving our Emergency Response
Vehicle are two other functions I assist with. I want to
make a difference in Northeast Louisiana through the American
Red Cross.

Why Volunteer?
With a small staff there is a great dependency upon
volunteers to accomplish the task at hand. In addition
to giving back to the community, volunteering helps you make
new friends, learn new skills and overall enriches your life.
Who is your hero?
My father Danny Frantom, who is deceased, is my
hero. His great example in business skills, being kind
and patient and always willing to help others has left an
indelible impression upon me.
How can others get involved?
Call or come by the Red Cross and let us give you
suggestions on where your help would be most needed. Our
ability is to deliver services is dependent upon the generosity
of the American public. We will try to match your time,
interests and skills with our broad needs. There is
something for everyone to do. The Red Cross Family is
one that has great meaning!
